Traditional Georgian Cuisine

Georgia is a very beautiful country with many interesting sights and traditional Georgian cuisine is one of them.

Khinkali

Khinkali - one of the most famous dishes of Georgian cuisine, was created in Pshavi, Mtiuleti and Khevsureti regions. A Georgian dumpling. Consists of a mixture of pork and beef (or lamb). It is a dough bag filled with meat, prepared by boiling.
According to the ancient rule, khinkali is made from coarsely minced meat. Khinkali is still prepared by such a method in mountainous areas.

Kuchmachi

Kuchmachi - a traditional Georgian dish. Made from chicken liver and heart. Walnuts and pomegranate seeds are used for blending.

Mtsvadi

Mtsvadi - a dish of Caucasian and Asian peoples, similar to BBQ. Traditionally made from lamb or pork on metal or wooden skewers.

Lobio

Lobio - Georgian boiled beans. In Georgian cuisine you will find twenty different types of bean dishes. This dish is mostly eaten with home-baked bread.

Chakapuli

Chakafuli - Georgian traditional tender meat. Made from lamb and veal. Tarragon leaves, tkemali, white wine, coriander, garlic and salt are used to soothe.

Ajapsandali

Ajapsandali - a dish of Caucasian cuisine (Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijani). Made with eggplant, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and spices.

Suluguni

Suluguni - Georgian cheese, from historical-geographical part of Georgia Samegrelo. Chkinti is made by thermal processing (cooking) of Imereti cheese. After cooling, the cheese mass is placed in milk brine for 1-3 days to ripen. Because soft sulguni are not stored for long (not more than 25 days in the refrigerator), they are dried and roasted for longer storage. Smoked sulguni is stored for 2-3 months.

Khachapuri

Khachapuri - a dish of Georgian cuisine. Georgian national baked goods. It may have been made by mixing cottage cheese before. Khachapuri originates from western Georgia. There are different types of khachapuri, including: Imeretian, Adjarian, Megrelian, Gurian, Svan, Rachuli, Khevsurian, layered. Imeretian khachapuri is especially famous.

Mchadi

Mchadi - grilled lean bread made from white corn flour. It is usually served as an appetizer with Georgian traditional salads: eggplant with walnuts, green beans with walnuts, spinach with walnuts.

Gozinaki

Gozinaki - a confectionery product that is most often served for the New Year. It is prepared from walnuts with honey.

Churchkhela

Churchchela, janjuha - is a Caucasian traditional confectionery made of nuts, strung on long strings and densely covered with grape syrup (Tatar). They are mainly preparing for the new year and big holidays.

Satsivi

Satsivi - a traditional Georgian main dish that is served cold. The meat can be chicken, turkey or beef, it can also be fish dipped in a sauce of finely ground walnuts and a bouquet of Georgian spices.
