There is a solid contractual framework between the two countries, which regulates almost all areas of cooperation. The Republic of Bulgaria actively supports Georgia's integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

It should be noted that the Republic of Bulgaria supports Georgia on the occasion of the European "Development Cooperation Program."

In 2017-2019, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria performed the functions of the NATO Embassy in Georgia. Cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, transport, culture and education is also dynamic.

In order to deepen the economic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Bulgaria, there is a form of intergovernmental trade, economic, scientific and technical commission for economic cooperation. The last meeting of the Commission was held on February 3, 2016 in Tbilisi. Cooperation at the legislative level is useful, and interparliamentary friendship groups operate in the parliaments of both countries. There is cooperation between Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ”and the State University in Tbilisi, as well as the Georgian University in the name of Patriarch Andrew I and the Heritage Research Institute at the Bachkovo Monastery in Bulgaria. A significant part of the historical and cultural relations is the Bachkovo Monastery, established by the Bakurianidze brothers in the Republic of Bulgaria, where a miraculous (Georgian) icon of the Virgin Mary was laid.
