ETIAS is the new electronic travel authorisation for nationals of countries that can travel to the EU without a visa, including Georgia. It will be required for short stays in 30 European countries, including Bulgaria.
As of 7 October 2026 the system is not in operation and no applications are being accepted. The EU will announce the start date several months in advance. For now, travellers do not need to do anything.
After the launch there will be a transitional period of at least six months. During it, travellers without ETIAS will still be allowed to cross the border if they hold a valid travel document and meet all other entry conditions. An authorisation will be valid for three years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
Do not submit data or pay on websites that claim to accept ETIAS applications already. Official information is available at travel-europe.europa.eu.
